Can you fully turn off Google AI Overviews?

After searching, Google shows tabs like Images and News. The 'Web' tab (sometimes under 'More') returns plain links with no AI Overview. You have to click it every search, and it can reset.

How to get rid of Google AI Overviews (every method that works)

Google AI Overviews now appear above the real results for a huge share of searches. If you would rather just see links, here are the methods that actually work, ranked from quick-but-fragile to permanent.

Method 1: the Web filter

Run your search as normal.
Look at the filter tabs under the search box (All, Images, News...).
Click Web. If you do not see it, open More and pick it there.
You now get plain links with no AI Overview on top.

This works today and needs no extensions. The catch is that you have to do it every single search, and Google sometimes resets you back to the all-in-one view.

Method 2: the udm=14 trick

Adding &udm=14 to a Google search URL forces the plain web results view. Power users wire this into their browser's search settings so every query opens in web-only mode. It is effective, but it is an unofficial parameter Google could change at any time.

Method 3: browser extensions

Several extensions hide the AI Overview block with a content filter. They work well until Google tweaks its page markup, at which point you wait for an update. It is one more thing to install, trust, and maintain.
