Bare is a plain, minimalist way to search the web. You type, we fetch real links to real websites, and we keep nothing afterward.
Search should be simple and get out of your way. Type what you're looking for and we point you straight to the source. Results are never rewritten, summarized, or reranked by AI. Sometimes a quick fact appears at the top, like a currency conversion or a definition, but it comes from straightforward data lookups shown exactly as the source provides them.
Where results come from. Bare does not run its own web crawler. Web results are fetched primarily from the Brave Search index (an independent index, not Google or Bing), blended with results from Wikipedia and other open sources. Your query passes through our server to fetch them, so the index sees our server's network rather than yours. Bare sends no location data with your search, and we never store what you searched for.
How Bare stays running. The index access, hosting, and domain cost real money, currently paid out of pocket. Some results or page areas may include clearly labeled advertising, affiliate, or sponsored links, matched only to the words in your current search or the page content, never to a profile of you. Ignoring them changes nothing about your results. Selling data is not on the table: there is no data to sell, and building it would defeat the point of the product.
What Bare runs on. Bare is built and hosted on Base44, an application platform, rather than on our own servers. The platform serves the app and counts anonymous page views so we can see the service is used; it never sees your search queries tied to you, because we never store them. We say this plainly because you can see the platform's requests in your own network tab, and we'd rather explain them than have you wonder.
Who runs Bare, and where. Bare is built and run independently by a small team based in the United States. It is not a corporation, a data broker, a subsidiary, or a marketing department; there is no parent company behind it and no upstream owner that could quietly change the privacy posture from above. The team that writes this code is the team that operates the service, and it operates under United States jurisdiction. We choose to stay personally anonymous for the same reason the product exists: we think names and identities should matter less on the web, ours included. We understand that anonymity can look like a red flag for a service asking for your trust, so we've built Bare to not need trust: we can't sell what we never collect, and every technical claim on this site can be verified from your own browser.
